Severstal Distribution commissioned a new sheet shaping line in Cherepovets Service Center (SMC)

A new line for producing shaped sheets was commissioned in Cherepovets Steel Service Center of AO Severstal Distribution (part of Severstal Russian Steel Division). New equipment will expand the range of corrugated sheets produced in Cherepovets SMC and will help to increase the throughput volume of these products by 20-50% depending on a product mix.

The new line of Cherepovets SMC produces 2 types of shaped sheets made of galvanized and color-coated rolled steel: “S-8” and “MP-20”. New equipment helps to process rolled steel with the thickness of 0.35-0.70 mm, while before SMC produced shaped sheets with the thickness of 0.45-0.50 mm. The quality of the products produced with the new line will be higher due to the increased accuracy of shape geometry and better quality of the shaping tool itself.

‘Steel processing is highly-demanded by end users who need either a blank with special dimensions or a product with improved quality‘, says Artemy Timoshenko, Logistics and Production Director of Severstal Distribution Group. ‘In order to shorten the production time for the products ordered by clients and to increase the rapidness of delivery we develop our own production and expand the network of partners in processing. So, this year we have installed a new line for producing corrugated sheets in Cherepovets SMC and also we plan to double the volume of processing at the facilities used’, he noted.
