SIA Severstal Distribution (Latvia) have started commercial production of utility pipes at its mill in Riga and gained certification to PN-EN10217-1 and to the requirements of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction of Poland. This certification allows marking the mill products with the symbol “B”, which is a mandatory requirement for the use at the facilities on the territory of Poland.
“Since we have a pool of regular customers for these products in Poland, we have completed certification of the utility pipe production in Riga. At present, the planned volume of utility pipe supplies to Poland is 500-700 tons per month”, - said Timur Yudichev, the head of the Severstal Russian Steel distribution network.
Utility pipes manufactured to the PN-EN10217-1 standard are intended for use in the gas supply, heating and fire extinguishing systems, as well as in other applications where pressure liquid and gas supply is required. The above standard imposes stricter requirements to the pipe quality, particularly to the weld strength.
Utility pipes produced at the Severstal Distribution mill in Riga have the following dimensions: diameter – from 33.7 to 88.9 mm, wall thickness – from 1.4 to 4.0 cm. Pipes are shipped in hexagonal bundles weighing up to 2.5 tons.
